SIGN LANGUAGE

Capricorn

As discussed in Chapter 4 of our publication, “When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology” (available on Amazon), and our Sign Language – Introduction blog dated 3-24-24, the zodiacal signs are part of every individual and business birth charts, based on date and time of birth, incorporation, or first public trade date on an equity index.

As documented, the general/mundane zodiac begins with the sign of Aries (as the 1st house), and the houses then move counter-clockwise around the zodiac wheel, until they reach the 12th house, completing the cycle. Also noted is the fact that the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th are the financially focused houses, though others can have minor influences. On our website we will periodically discuss these energies regarding the mundane/general collective and the U.S. Stock Market first trade date chart.

Today’s focus is the sign of Capricorn, which resides in the 10th house of the zodiac (based on the Aries Rising chart). Capricorn is an aspiration-themed sign, symbolized by the Goat, and is an earth, cardinal, female sign, ruled by the planet Saturn. This signs’ traits include ambition (similar to Sagittarius), though it is more based on hard work, realism, resiliency, and longer-term goals. As mentioned, whenever a specific sign “season” occurs, the Sun shines its energies and brings it to the forefront, and this Capricornseason” (when the Sun is traveling through the sign of Capricorn) runs from December 22, 2024 through January 19, 2025. Capricorn “season” always brings in the new year, and is the host for the annual “Santa Claus Rally,” that generally occurs at the end of the year in the U.S. equity markets.

The 10th is not generally a financially focused house, however, it is associated with the Medium Coeli, or Midheaven (MC), of a birth chart, which represents the public image of a person or entity. This position symbolizes social standing/perception, career path, and success, and is officially the 10th house from the Rising Sign in a birth/creation chart, and can influence professional drive and ambition.

This Capricorn season contains a few interesting planetary aspects, including the 2nd leg of a Jupiter square Saturn 3-part series, which began in early summer. The opposite energies these two planets exude usually creates a “tug of war” scenario regarding the equity markets, causing volatility and uncertainty. Don’t be surprised if the random “ups” and “downs” continue in the near term, as this Saturn-ruled sign restricts gains for the time being.

Although the current Mercury retrograde will be complete by December 15, the new Mars retrograde (which began 2 days ago) will remain in effect through the Capricorn season, in both the signs of Leo and Cancer, likely continuing the intense price moves in the equity markets.

The energies of the Uranus retrograde, located in the latter stages of Taurus (money), which began on September 2nd, will also last through this season, as it does not end until January 30, 2025, about a week or so into Aquarius season. These retrograde energies will potentially affect Capricorn, as it has Sagittarius, Scorpio, Virgo and Libra. Uranus is known as the great “disruptor” so watch for additional violent market swings and trend changes through Capricorn season, especially in technology related sectors and stocks.

The planet Venus moves out of the sign of Capricorn (ruled by Saturn), this weekend, and into the sign of Aquarius (see our – Trader Transits – Venus in Aquarius blog, dated 12-2-24), also ruled by Saturn, which signifies a more free-spirited time period and optimism. This transit will last about halfway through Capricorn season, until January 3, 2025, taking us through the expected Santa Claus Rally.

Some sectors to watch for this Capricorn season as the Sun and Mercury (on January 8) occupy the sign, include communications, financials, consumer discretionary, transportation, technology, and cryptocurrency. Taking some profits and holding cash for future opportunities continue to be a consideration for the time being with the constant fluctuations in the markets.

Finally, all birth/natal charts are unique, and every individual (or business) possesses its own set of planetary and sign positions in each house.
