Mars conjunct Uranus in Taurus
As covered in our recent publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (now available on Amazon), and previous blogs, the planet Mars symbolizes assertiveness, passion, drive, ambition, and determination. Mars likes to “get things done” and not sit on the sideline or be passive, and rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio. Mars is very competitive, has a “fighting” nature (and good and bad), and encourages one to take challenges.
Mars is known to signify sharp tools and weapons, surgery, fire, and iron/steel, and in the financial world represents a company’s strategy and motivation. In the equity markets it often signifies high and low stock prices. Mars rules sectors such as defense (military/war), mining (gold, Bitcoin, etc.), and surgical.
Mars will make a conjunction (or meeting in the sky) with the planet Uranus on July 15, 2024, in the sign of Taurus, just about 5 days before its ingress into the sign of Gemini (air, communications, intellect).
Taurus is an earth, fixed sign (as discussed in our Sign Language - Taurus blog, dated 4-5-24), ruled by Venus, positioned as the 2nd sign/house of the zodiac, which relates to money, stability, stubbornness, and grounded-ness.
Venus, as noted above, will also enter the sign of Leo just prior to this conjunction, on July 11, 2024, remaining for only about 3 ½ weeks, shorter than its normal transit. In this sign, the planet usually has a good vibe. Last year, however, Venus retrograde began on the first day of Leo season, and a lengthy market reversal occurred immediately.
This year, another Mercury retrograde period will begin about halfway through Leo season, starting on August 5th and lasting until August 27th (see Planet Power – Mercury Retrograde blog, dated 4-1-24). Expect another period of market volatility that always seems to accompany this phenomenon.
Uranus, which represents sudden, unexpected events, rebellion, and erratic behavior, as well as technology in the financial world, will remain near the end degrees of Taurus until March of 2025, when it begins its 7-year stay in the sign of Gemini.
The history of the Mars-Uranus conjunction includes the inauguration of President Joe Biden, when it occurred on January 20, 2021, as well as the surge of innovative technology with the rapid creation of the pandemic vaccination. In the financial markets, it has signified volatility, reversals, and some additional price surges when at all-time highs.
This particular Mars-Uranus conjunction will occur at 26 degrees (also representing Taurus), and will also conjunct the star Algol, considered the most “malefic” star in the universe. There are heightened fears concerning violence (including involving world leaders), political unrest, and war, by leading astrologers regarding this transit.
Since Jupiter had recently moved from the sign of Taurus, into the sign of Gemini, intelligence themed sectors like AI, communications, and aerospace are expected to continued gains, as discussed in our Sign Language - Gemini blog dated 5-8-24.
The general belief among financial astrologers is that this conjunction may be met with volatility and sudden erratic and unpredictable swings in price action in the markets. These energies may be felt up to a couple of trading days prior to, and after, this transit.
For longer-term positions, continue to be cautious around the conjunction, and remain careful not to let any excitement or over-exuberance effect your logical, intelligent thinking. Don’t over-think your trades, and simply refrain if indecisive. The coming Mars-Jupiter conjunction and Jupiter-Saturn square aspects, in mid-August, is another period of warning, and will be discussed in a future blog.
