PLANET POWER

MARS

In this installment of “Planet Power,” we will discuss the planet Mars, known as the “Red Planet” in the universe, covered in Chapter 4 of our new publication “When to Buy and When to Sell;” Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon).

Mars is known as a “malefic” planet (like Saturn) and presents many challenges when in unfavorable aspects, or when exerting its energies, especially in fire signs, like its current position in Aries. Mars “rules” the signs of Aries and Scorpio, which are also known for aggression, courage, and periods of anger, like Mars.

Mars takes almost 2 years to revolve around the sun and through the zodiac. This divides to slightly 1.5 months, on average, positioned in each sign. Mars commands action, which can be good or bad, when combining with the themes of the sign, or house, it is in aspect with, or transiting through.

In addition to aggression and courage, some of the main traits and energies (including financial) attributed to Mars include; assertiveness, passion, drive, ambition, and determination. Mars likes to “get things done” and not sit on the sideline or be passive. Mars is very competitive, has a “fighting” nature (and good and bad), and encourages one to take challenges. It represents sharp tools and weapons, surgery, fire, and iron/steel.

In the financial world it represents a company’s strategy and motivation, while in the equity markets it often signifies high and low stock prices. Mars rules sectors such as defense (military/war), mining (gold, Bitcoin, etc.), and surgical.

Near future aspects and transits related to Mars include its ingress into the sign of Taurus on June 9, 2024, and into the sign of Gemini on July 20, 2024. There is also an important aspect concerning Mars, on July 15, 2024, when it forms a conjunction with Uranus (in Taurus), a few days before it leaves that sign.

Mars in the sign of Taurus (the Bull) is a “neutralizer” and is normally a good time to secure long-term investments, as Taurus is a grounded sign of stability, ruled by Venus, both of which also signify money (please refer to Sign Language – Taurus blog, dated 4-5-24). Realizing or setting goals, or starting a business that has been fully prepared and structured may also be beneficial. The right deal on a property, or other valuable asset, may also be advantageous, as long as all research and due diligence is conducted, and over-aggression is avoided.

Mars moving into the sign of Gemini (the Twins), an air sign ruled by Mercury, on July 20, suggests a change to communications and intelligence-based concepts, where caution needs to be taken regarding over-thinking, and sorting out opposing information received from varying sources (see Sign Language – Gemini blog dated 5-8-24 for more details). This sign reverts to not thinking everything through, despite having intelligence. The aggressive nature of Mars revives, although not as strong as when in Aries, and one must keep decisions logic-based rather than “off the cuff.” The indecisive nature of Gemini may make you question an investment, or trade (as Mercury signifies market trading). The volatility of the market should have calmed at this point, and cooler heads will prevail. Do not force any moves during this time frame.

Another significant upcoming Mars transit is the Mars-Uranus conjunction, which occurs on July 15, only a few days prior to Mars’ ingress from Taurus to Gemini. This meeting further exemplifies the importance of containing risk and staying grounded. The aggressive nature of Mars, and the sudden, unexpected events that often take place with Uranus, is highlighted. Traders should have no pre-conceived notion of market movement, as it can be very unpredictable and erratic. Be risk-averse, or steer clear, for at least a few days, when the energies are at their strongest.

The history of the Mars-Uranus conjunction includes the inauguration of President Joe Biden, as it last occurred on January 20, 2021, as well as the surge of innovative technology with the rapid creation of the pandemic vaccination.

Financial astrologers commonly believe that the AI/technology, defense/military, robotics, and electric vehicle sectors will continue to flourish, but beware the Jupiter-Saturn square (about 1 month later) that may derail the momentum for a while. Stay tuned for our Trader Transit - Jupiter square Saturn blog in the near future.
