Pluto - Neptune
In this installment of “Planet Power,” we will discuss both Pluto, known as the God of the Underworld, and Neptune, known as the Ruler of the Sea, which is introduced in Chapter 4 of our publication “When to Buy and When to Sell;” Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon).
Pluto and Neptune are the two furthest planets from the Sun, and the slowest moving. Therefore, their energies are felt for the longest time frame in each sign they transit. Pluto takes about 248 years to travel through the entire zodiac (average of 20 years per sign), while Neptune takes approximately 164 years (slightly over 13-14 years). Due to the extended length of stay in a sign, both have very strong related energies that persist for well over a decade.
Both planets have some similar significations, including the oil industry, which they co-rule. In the financial world, traits and energies attributed Pluto include company power, money, and production. Pluto also symbolizes destruction and rebuilding, and co-rules the long-term bond market with Jupiter. In the financial markets, Pluto signifies sectors including bonds/treasuries, insurance, oil (as mentioned), waste/sewage, and scientific research. Pluto has been positioned in the sign of Capricorn (ruled by Saturn), which represents government and authority, since 2008. During the last year and a half, it has started its ingress into Aquarius (also ruled by Saturn, with Uranus), which represents the “people,” and rebellion, though two retrograde periods have created a back and forth between Capricorn and Aquarius, which has been evident in world events (please refer to our Planet Power – Pluto blog dated 3-17-24).
Neptune’s energies include; dreams, imagination, spirituality, illusion, deception, mystery, and confusion. Things are not always clear in the mind with Neptune influences. In the financial world it represents company mergers, debt, and inflation, as well as re-organizations. Sectors symbolized by this planet include energy (oil & gas), water, performing arts, pharmaceuticals, and hospitals. Neptune has been positioned in the sign of Pisces (water sign), which it also co-rules with the planet Jupiter, since early April of 2011, and will remain for a few more months until March of 2025. The sign of Pisces is also known for mystery, dreams, and endings. As discussed in a previous blog (Planet Power – Neptune, dated 6-9-24), the previous Neptune transit through Pisces, in the mid-1900’s was the era of the Civil War and the European revolutions, as idealism, fantasy, religion, and the subconscious were brought to the forefront. There are indications that the general populace may be awakening to some of the “hidden” events, economic falsities, and other non-truths, and Neptune’s ingress into Aries in March of 2025 may signify more voice/aggression. Neptune has also been in a sign conjunction (Pisces) with Saturn, which symbolizes the “secrets” being kept from the populace by the government.
Neptune experienced a retrograde period beginning on July 2, 2024, which will last until December 7, 2024, remaining through the United States Presidential election in November. This expected period of unclear direction, and possible deceit, coincides with a Saturn retrograde (also in Pisces) and a Saturn square to Jupiter (see Planet Power – Saturn blog dated 6-1-24), during which we suggested reflecting on, and organizing your portfolio, as caution and emotional control would be necessary. The bond market itself has been acting rather strangely as of late as well, with conflicting economic reports and federal Reserve action, which we discuss in our weekly Fear & Greed index blogs.
Financial astrologers commonly believe that the gains in defense/home security sector, and energy, and commodities is likely to continue given all the conditions above.
