SIGN LANGUAGE
Scorpio
As discussed in Chapter 4 of our publication, “When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology”(available on Amazon), and our Sign Language – Introduction blog dated 3-24-24, the zodiacal signs are part of every individual and business birth charts, based on date and time of birth, incorporation, or first public trade date on an equity index.
As documented, the general/mundane zodiac begins with the sign of Aries (as the 1st house), and the houses then move counter-clockwise around the zodiac wheel, until they reach the 12th house, completing the cycle. Also noted is the fact that the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th are the financially focused houses, though others can have minor influences. On our website we will periodically discuss these energies regarding the mundane/general collective and the U.S. Stock Market first trade date chart.
Today’s focus is the sign of Scorpio, which resides in the 8th house of the zodiac (based on the Aries Rising chart). Scorpio is a water, fixed, female sign, ruled by the planets Mars and Pluto. This signs’ traits include courageousness, jealousy, strong will, and secrecy. Scorpio is a competitive and determination-themed sign, symbolized by the Scorpion. Whenever a specific sign “season” occurs, the Sun shines its energies and brings it to the forefront, and Scorpio “season” (when the Sun is traveling through the sign of Scorpio) runs from October 22 through November 21, in 2024.
As noted, the 8th house is another financially focused house, representing other people’s money/inheritances, shared finances, taxes, and even death. The associated Scorpio energies noted earlier also suggests a distain for loss of money, and a challenge to keep it.
This Scorpio season includes a few interesting planetary aspects, including the planet Mercury transiting the sign from October 13 (8 days prior to Scorpio season) through November 2 (about 2 weeks into Scorpio season). This is a time for some “truths” to be exposed regarding hidden secrets and/or deceitful practices, including those in the economic/financial arena. Pluto’s final entry into the sign of Aquarius, where it will remain for almost 20 years, will occur on the last day of the season, November 20, possibly setting the stage for major transformation in the global market conditions. Be aware of these energies just prior to, and after, the U.S. Presidential election, and be diligent to conduct research regarding any investments.
The energies of the Uranus retrograde, located in the latter stages of Taurus (money), which began on September 2nd, and will not end until January 30, 2025 (ending in Aquarius), will potentially affect Scorpio, as it has Virgo and Libra. Uranus is known as the great “disruptor” so watch for additional violent market swings and trend changes through Scorpio season, especially as we near the election.
The planet Venus (which represents money, fashion, and love) will leave the sign of Scorpio just a few days prior to the beginning of Scorpio season, entering the sign of Sagittarius on October 17. Venus returns to its more fun-loving state in this mutable fire sign, which is more harmonious, though it can also be exaggerated. Toward the end of this season, the market historically breaks from the challenge of Libra and Scorpio, resulting in market gains, which could be helped by Venus. However, this year’s certain volatility during the U.S. Presidential election bears watching.
Some sectors to watch for this Scorpio season as the Sun, Mercury, and Pluto (at the very end) occupy the sign, and Mars (ruler of Scorpio) remains in the sign of Cancer (a favorable trine aspect), include healthcare, technology, and real estate for potential gains. The consumer “staples” and consumer “discretionary” industries may flip-flop in the near future as the holiday spending season approaches, skewing actual retail sales figures. Taking some profits and holding cash for future opportunities continue to be a consideration for the time being. Hedging your positions with inverse ETF’s may also be beneficial in the short term. Remember to perform your due diligence regarding trades and investments during this “season.”
The beginning of Scorpio season is traditionally volatile, and has been the culprit of some of the largest “crashes” in history. The market then generally smooths out, as November has become the best month of the year for gains. Seasonal strength has become the norm, especially in the final two years of the presidential cycle. The transits discussed for this year remain very interesting, and the last two weeks of this season, following the election, could be very abnormal.
