Neptune in Aries

In this installment of “Planet Power,” we will discuss the planet Neptune’s upcoming ingress into the sign of Aries. Neptune is known as a planet of mystery, which is introduced in Chapter 4 of our publication “When to Buy and When to Sell;” Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon).  

      As discussed in our Planet Power – Neptune blog, dated 6-9-24, Neptune is the 2nd furthest planet from the Sun, and takes approximately 164 days to travel through the entire zodiac. This divides to slightly over 13-14 years, on average, positioned in each sign. Due to the extended length of stay in a sign, Neptune has very strong energies that persist in that sign for well over a decade, normally associated with longer term interest and/or investment.  

      Some of the main traits and energies attributed to Neptune include dreams, imagination, spirituality, illusion, deception, mystery, confusion, art/music, crime, and drugs/alcohol. Things are not always clear in the mind with Neptune influences. In the past, Neptune in Aries has coincided with rebellions, including the American Civil War. There are many signifiers of the same themes in the geo-political world at this time, which hopefully will be avoided. In the financial world it represents company mergers, debt, inflation, and re-organizations. Sectors symbolized by this planet include energy (oil & gas), water, performing arts, pharmaceuticals, and hospitals. Neptune “co-rules” the sign of Pisces (with Jupiter), which is the 12th house of the zodiac, and has been positioned in that sign since early April of 2011. Pisces is also known for compassion/empathy, art/music, theatre, dreams, and endings.  

      The sign of Aries, however, is a different story. Aries is often associated with aggression, boldness, conflict, determination, and new beginnings (see our recent Sign Language - Aries blog, dated 3-6-25). It is also known for impatience and fast starts that quickly fade.  

      On this specific occasion, Neptune will ingress Aries during both Mercury retrograde (until April 7), and Venus retrograde (until April 12). Retrograde, as previously defined, is the illusion in the sky that an entity is moving backwards. This action causes the energies associated with that entity to stall, weaken, and sometimes reverse, as well as re-visit old situations.  

      Mercury retrograde occurs 2-3 times per year, and as we have touched on in the past (see our Planet Power - Mercury Retrograde blog, dated 4-1-24), it often results in wild price swings in the equity markets, with no clear direction. It is generally not a favorable time to sign contracts or begin new relationships.  

      Venus retrograde has historically included sharp, sometimes lengthy, pullbacks in the equity markets, as it did on the previous occasion (July 22 – Sept 4, 2023), which resulted in a quick market reversal, on Day 1, starting a significant market slump into September. This retrograde began with Venus positioned in the sign of Aries (1st house of the zodiac/aggressive energies), but it will re-enter the sign of Pisces (12th house/endings, dreamy, and delusional energies), suggesting passive-aggressive price action in the markets continuing for the time being. Rallies tend to quickly fade under this sign, so be aware of potential “false breakouts.” During this period, we suggest keeping your position size smaller than normal, and avoid being overconfident with “illusions of grandeur” and thoughts of striking it rich.  

      Financial astrologers commonly believe that sectors such as military/defense, healthcare, agriculture, energy, insurance, and entertainment may be ones to focus on during these current conditions, which include possible recession-like economic reports (highlighted by food and energy costs) and continued geo-political conflict. As noted, any rallies may be short-lived until this period passes. 

      The longer-term outlook for Neptune’s stay in Aries involves improving clarity and a “full-steam ahead” approach concerning energy, space exploration and discovery, and medical breakthroughs, making these types of investments very intriguing for the long haul.
