Venus ingress Scorpio
As covered in our recent publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (now available on Amazon), and our recent Planet Power – Venus, blog, dated 7-20-24, the planet Venus plays a major role in the financial astrology arena. Venus symbolizes money, and its upcoming ingress into the sign of Scorpio (representing the 8th house of the zodiac, a key financial house), is a potential sign of loss, as this sign is considered its detriment.
Venus will travel through Scorpio from September 23th (essentially the first day of Libra season) through October 17, before moving into the sign of Sagittarius on October 18. Scorpio signifies value, debt & interest rates (as Scorpio’s co-ruler is Pluto), other people’s money, and buy and hold strategies. Venus is much easier going and prefers the casual approach and luxury, which contradicts Scorpio.
The previous Venus/Scorpio ingress started in late July of 2023, when a Venus retrograde period coincided with a sizeable and lengthy dip in the S&P 500, as it often does.
As we have discussed in the past, the themes of many transits and aspects tend to repeat themselves, and the energies can be felt for some time before the actual date of the event, and for a period after. As we also noted in our 7-20-24 blog, Venus (and Mercury) are associated more with swing-trading than longer-term investing, as they quickly move through signs. Venus will also be leaving the sign of Libra, just as Mercury enters Libra on the 23rd. Mercury’s transit through Virgo was tumultuous, however (as it retrograded back to Leo for a few weeks), before re-entering Virgo, and markets were very volatile as expected during that time frame. Mercury in Libra energies signify high intelligence and a bit more balance.
The general belief among financial astrologers is that the Venus signifiers will continue some volatility in the equity markets, though short-term upswings may occur. Those who favor the buy and hold strategy should at least review their positions for possible sells, for any equities they are unsure of holding. With the upcoming election, occurring in Scorpio season (discussed in an upcoming blog), there may be some intense price action in either direction.
Sectors to focus on during the current period continue to be real estate, commodities, cryptocurrency, and bonds, should expected interest rate cuts continue. Cryptocurrencies continue to be an area of interest during this time frame. Venus transits through Libra have been strong for this sector, especially Ethereum, which has turned around as of late. Look for a potential “breakout,” should current technical resistance lines be breached as Libra energies continued with the influx of Mercury, and the overall start of Libra season.”
